Media release: New fashion partner to tell the story of the Great Barrier Reef
Solar Bare has announced an alignment with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation as a ‘Shop for the Reef’ partner. A poolside launch at Sails Port Macquarie on Tuesday 24 April will reveal Solar Bare’s second collection of reef prints – designed to showcase the striking and vibrant patterns of the Great Barrier Reef to the world.
The Port Macquarie-based swim and sun wear label was launched with a vision to create a social enterprise that could be a champion of the Great Barrier Reef through its distinctive Australian look. All Solar Bare sun and swim wear is designed and made in Australia.
The second collection of reef prints again takes inspiration from majestic reef fish, including the hump head wrasse, giant clam, orange spotted trevally and bi-colour parrot fish.
Solar Bare sees tremendous value and benefit in the collaboration as each print tells a story of the Great Barrier Reef. Solar Bare will donate five per cent of all sales to the Foundation to help it further its mission to ‘keep the reef great’.
Founder and creative director, Vivien Mitchell said “We are so proud to support the Great Barrier Reef Foundation through our original reef prints. This is a values-based alignment, where we will work with the Foundation to share a love of the Great Barrier Reef. Our designs can help start conversations about why it’s so important to preserve it for future generations.
“2018 is the International Year of the Reef, so there is no better time to announce this alignment,” Ms Mitchell said.
Great Barrier Reef Foundation managing director Anna Marsden said, “It’s wonderful to have a business like Solar Bare step up and show its support for the Great Barrier Reef. Everyone has a role to play in helping to protect our natural treasure, and this initiative gives Solar Bare and its customers the opportunity to help secure a future for the Great Barrier Reef. The funds raised from this alliance will be directed towards projects that are developing solutions to the many threats facing our Reef.”
5% per cent of each sale on the Solar Bare website will be donated to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
